Honoring Kobe! We Can Do It Everyday!

This has been weighing on me since the day that Kobe, Gigi and the seven others were gone from the earth too soon.

Millions and Millions of people were moved to honor Kobe, Gigi, John, Keri, Alyssa, Christina, Sarah, Payton and Ara. People have found many ways to honor those lost in this tragic accident whether they are famous athletes wearing Kobe’s jersey or a blue collar worker with a homemade T-shirt. This blog is about 3 ways we could all honor Kobe in how we live our lives based on an interview I saw Kobe do since he retired. For sure, Kobe when he played basketball (one of the best ever) was the Mamba but the following suggestions are to honor Kobe the human being!

Kobe being the family man he strived to be!

Kobe in an interview stated that the true legacy of any person is how they change the world and the difference that is made because of their life. The following are ways to honor Kobe by the way we all live our lives

Tell and show people that you care about them, that you appreciate them, that they made (are making)a difference in your life. Don’t we all wish Kobe knew how much he meant to the world. All of us have Kobes in our life maybe not superstar athletes but people that matter. Honor Kobe and let them know!

Kobe found redemption in becoming a better man, became a better family man and better human being by helping others raise their lives.

Take stock of how you are living your life ?are you making a difference?is the world better because you’re in it? You don’t need to be a superstar to be a part of making your family, your community and your country better but by working to improve conditions for all, you are a superstar. Honor Kobe by becoming the best person you can be!

Kobe being a Girl Dad

Kobe was in the midst of making a big difference for girls and women’s sports as a Girl Dad!

You don’t have to be the Dad of a daughter to like, appreciate and honor girls and women! They deserve it. Have earned it and it is their right! Honor Kobe by being a Girl Dad and respect the rights of all!

I finish this with a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr that I found in Jon Meacham’s “The Soul of America” We are tied together in the single garment of destiny, caught in an inescapable network of mutuality. And whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. For some strange reason I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. And you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be. Honor Kobe help us all be better!

  1. Excellent. Very inspiring. And I love the way you (With the help of Dr. King) finished it off… “For some strange reason I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. And you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be.”
